plan file with news about the latest build of Quake III for Mac OS X - the installer for the latest version, 1.30, is now ready for download. In related news, Id Software Mac maven Graeme Devine recently James said that regardless of the disparity, the Quake III Team Arena CD-ROM is indeed mountable as a Mac CD and contains a Mac installer application. While the package itself indicates it’s a hybrid CD, the Quake III Team Arena CD-ROM inside the box is labeled as a Windows-only CD. James confirmed that the Quake III Gold pack works on Macs and PCs alike, but noted some contradictory information. Several new game types have been incorporated, along with new weapons, new interface elements, and a host of changes to the core Quake III Arena technology to help improve and enhance the experience. For me there was nothing to double click and no onscreen instructions.Quake III Team Arena is a “Mission Pack” which leverages Quake III Arena’s online gaming play with team play elements, instead. Double-click "Install Additional Software."Follow the onscreen instructions. If you are installing from the Mac OS X installation discs, insert the "Additional Software & Apple Hardware Test" disc that came with your computer. (which works well enough on my G5 iMac)But I'd really like to be playing Quake III Arena right now! Some links to read: I managed to find classic on one of the disks that came with my iBook, but the instructions non Apple's site on how to install it didn't seem to match the reality of what I found. For one thing, I could only view the contents of the disk in terminal, I couldn't see them in the Finder.Does any one have any idea how to view them in the Finder?I was going for Quake III and when I copied over the os9 system folder to my iMac, OSX seemed to like it but Quake III game me an error and I gave up and bought Quake 4.
